Thanks for putting this together Benjamin. I didn't know other countries has e-residency in place apart from Estonia.

I still struggle to wrap my head around the usefulness of those to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm European and I "don't need it" as much.

Would you say it's practical for American who wants to do business in Europe?

But is it better than a LLC there then 🤔

Thanks Jeremie, great question. And I think your intuition is right: for most Europeans, e-Residency doesn’t offer much you can’t already access.

Where it gets interesting is for non-EU entrepreneurs (especially Americans) who want a presence in Europe without relocating. Estonia’s e-Residency lets them set up an EU company, issue invoices, file taxes, and manage everything remotely.

Better than an LLC? Depends on the goal. For Europeans, I would say no for most cases.

For global SaaS or consulting though, an Estonian OÜ via e-Residency can be simpler than forming a US LLC + managing cross-border issues and reporting.

But it comes with trade-offs (e.g. banking access, recognition in some markets).
