Awesome story, Benjamin! I relate so much with watching the dwindling savings account, thinking about our burn rate, doing the quick math, and thinking, “this isn’t sustainable.” But the thing we can’t account for? One: we can’t predict the great surprises. Everything can change in a minute for the better, and we would never know this if we didn’t hang in there long enough. And two, our attitude and resilience become so much stronger. It’s almost like, if we want it bad enough, the universe will show us a path. We just need to keep going.

May I ask why you felt Germany was no longer for you? I was stationed in Darmstadt back in the beginning of the millennium. (US Army) It was actually one of my favorite places.
