Yes. But the change in the law from 5 years to 10 for eligibility didn’t expressly grandfather persons who had applications pending and who have not yet been issued residency permits despite a year and a half since the biometric appointment. So, the process is illusory for citizenship. It was a de jure bait and switch caused in large part by de facto bureaucratic breakdown.
I would rather have a passport that gets me into 150 countries. I like the ability to move around, not get stuck in a country that I dont agree with the polices.
Re your question about passport or permanent residency, I’ll take the passport every time because I am very uncomfortable traveling most places on my passport issued by a government that routinely murders innocent civilians around the world.
Residency is enough for me. All I care about is the fact I don’t have to leave after a proscribed period.
I‘m with you here.
I’m never going to be accepted as a Portuguese. What’s the point? I get to vote?
If you obtain a Portuguese passport, you will have all the rights that a Portugal-born citizen has (also the right to vote).

Valid point! A second passport surely is a good hedge.
I need a second passport! One that allows me into the EU preferably
Hey Carol, I will DM you!
